The Spirit of the
Lord God is upon me;
because the Lord hath anointed me...
To appoint unto
them that mourn in
Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy
for mourning, the
garment of praise for
the spirit of heaviness;
that they might be called
trees of righteousness,
the planting of the
Lord, that he might be glorified.
Isaiah 61:3
beauty from ashes
Through the devastation of adultery and redemptive healing of our marriage, Beauty from Ashes was birthed. Our mission is to bring hope to those enduring a similar crisis and to deter those contemplating unfaithfulness. Isaiah 61:3 “To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
Although Isaiah 61:3 says, “beauty for ashes,” we felt “Beauty from Ashes” better depicts what God has been doing in our lives. Rather than replace the ash, God has been taking the ashes of our lives and marriage and transforming them into something beautiful. Therefore, each piece of art contains some form of ash or burnt wood, as a reminder of God’s grace.
